Process Specialist

Ideal candidate will have a good background in electronics manufacturing; aerospace and defense applications; electromechanical manufacturing; board/card assemblies; production control; surface mount technology; lean manufacturing; product quality enhancement; working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001:2000. This position requires a flexible, business-minded individual who has a real desire to drive process innovation and improvement by developing close working relationships and yielding best-in-class performance.

Responsibilities / Immediate Opportunities:

 - Propose, develop and manage process development (design, implement and   document procedures for process control and process improvement). 
 - Establish and implement clear and concise metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and train process owner in their proper use; conduct capability studies as necessary to define process stability and capability.
 - Perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements; troubleshoot manufacturing problems and identify solutions with data based decision making.
 - Establish collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality. - Improve manufacturing efficiencies (rate, yield, uptime, quality) inside plant.
 - Develop methods to increase rates of products produced without impacting quality.
 - Develop methods to increase yields.
 - Establish work plans necessary to accomplish goals, track and report progress in  comparison to plans.
 - Prepare progress reports.
 - All other reasonable duties, as assigned.

Future Opportunities:

 - Work with process owners and IT resources to make data available to process owners to support decision-making.
 - Direct diagnostic studies and analysis of company processes to identify opportunities for Lean/Six Sigma projects and "learning" scope projects.
 - Develop strategies related to automation and instrumentation of new or existing processes.
 - Facilitate Lean/Six Sigma training classes.
 - Develop process certification standards and assist in process certification.
 - Enhance QMS for defense manufacturing. 

Education/Experience:

 - 5+ years experience in the field.
 - Knowledge of Lean tools through participation in Kaizen activities.
 - CQM or CQE status a plus.
 - Six Sigma black-belt certification a plus.
 - Thorough comprehension of philosophy behind AS9100 or ISO 9001:2000 requirements a plus.

Qualification/Other Requirements:

 - Broad knowledge in the principles and use of statistics and statistical process control.
 - Prior use of designed experiments, Lean, Six Sigma, SPC or equivalent.
 - Excellent problem-solving skills.
 - Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
 - Highly organized/planned with a strong attention to detail and excellence.
 - Self-starter capable of working independently. Able to work under deadlines and handle multiple and detail-oriented tasks.

HDL Research Lab, Inc. is looking for a mature and dedicated individual for design and engineering applications of analog electronics in the military & aerospace industry.
Requirements include: Master's Degree and one-year's Work Experience.
The ideal candidate will have significant power supply circuit design experience, knowledge of packaging, circuit card design, and engineering analyses.
Applicants should be comfortable with a hands-on approach to engineering. This is a full-time permanent position. Travel is rarely required.
